Andrews, Roy Chapman
(26 ene. 1884, Beloit, Wis., EE.UU.–11 mar. 1960, Carmel, Cal.).

Naturalista, explorador y escritor estadounidense. En 1906 entró a trabajar en el American Museum of Natural History, donde habría de pasar buena parte de su vida laboral. Ahí reunió una de las mejores colecciones de cetáceos del mundo, antes de dedicarse a la exploración de Asia. Encabezó expediciones al Tíbet, China sudoccidental y Birmania (1916–17); China septentrional y Mongolia Exterior (1919); y Asia central. Entre sus descubrimientos más importantes se cuentan los primeros huevos de dinosaurio conocidos, partes del esqueleto del Baluchitherium (el mamífero terrestre más grande que se conoce) y pruebas de vida humana prehistórica. Entre sus numerosos libros de divulgación se cuentan Across Mongolian Plains [Cruzando las llanuras de Mongolia] (1921) y This Amazing Planet [Este planeta asombroso] (1940).
